Are the rooms gender-mixed?

Yes and No.

It is possible that the room can be either a same-gender room or a mixed-gender room. But it will depend on your and your friends' choice. 

So if you prefer to stay with the same gender friends, you can sign up together in a cabin that has only the same gender then it will be alright!
